The HUG program is road trips for dogs. We have great relationships with partner rescues to ensure that our larger dogs find their forever families. Some of the dogs that come into our care are the larger ones that have a hard time finding families because the are young, energetic, and well, they are large! Smaller dogs are in great demand in the village but it's rare that people call us looking for a large dog. We get them ready for transport to an area where adopters for large dogs are plentiful. The program pays for costs to satisfy transport requirements.
As part of the AWL mission to increase awareness of animal issues through education programs, AWL funds Kind News, a publication promoting humane treatment of all animals and appreciation of our environment. All elementary students in three area school districts receive their very own copies of the magazine. Award-winning materials are also provided to three area school district elementary libraries. We have also given local area school classes tours of our Adoption Center.
Looking Ahead for Pets (LAP) Program
The LAP program assists Hot Springs Village residents who must find a new home for their beloved pet using our marketing and advertising resources to facilitate an adoption. To get more information, please contact us by phone at 501-915-9337 or by email at Adoptions@HSVAWL.org.
Do you have a pet that you need to rehome? Adopt-A-Pet has a free service with advice to help you do that on your own. It may take a little time, but it is far better for the pet than to “dump” it somewhere or have a stranger you know nothing about take your pet. The pet stays with you until you find an adopter you can check out, so it never goes to a shelter or becomes a burden on animal rescue groups. Follow the steps in the outline to take advantage of the free service. Click the image above to find our more.
Lost Pets & Lily Alerts: If a pet is missing, immediately call the POA Animal Control at 501-922-6547. To expand the coverage, call AWL at 501-915-9337 and ask to participate in the Lily Alert program. The volunteer on duty will instruct the pet owner as to the procedures involved. Or, email a photo, description, and contact information to us: LilyAlert@HSVAWL.org
