We waited three years for Girls Gotta Howl, and it was certainly worth it!
Tickets for the fundraiser on Monday, September 26th, sold out in a record 3 1/2 hours. More than 250 gals came to the Coronado Center to support the AWL and have a great time. They enjoyed a delicious fajita bar catered by Melinda's Cafe, and visited our vendor booths featuring the Pampered Chef,
Tupperware, Silverware Lady, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Tastefully Simple, Dog Wood Tree, Do Terra Essential Oils, and Marjorie Lambert jewelry creations.
We were entertained by the Spa City Tappers, DJ Larry Wilson,
and treated to a performance by the Cheapendales, led by Linda Broome.
Some of our adoptable dogs made a special appearance, and there was plenty of dancing and good fun!
Special thanks to our Corporate Sponsor Relyance Bank, Wine Sponsor ReMax HSV, Dessert Sponsor Ike Eisenhauer State Farm, and Chips and Salsa Sponsor mForce Capital. Congratulations to our raffle winners, Sharon Smith $500; Bonnie Rutledge and Debra McAndrews $200; and Toby Hamilton and two other $100 winners
who designated the AWL as the recipient. Thank you to all our auction winners, and to Alissa Nead, winner of the party basket raffle.
Thanks to your generosity, the AWL raised more than $12,000 to support
our life saving work.
If customers can’t find it, it doesn’t exist. Clearly list and describe the services you offer. Also, be sure to showcase a premium service.

Watch our adoptable dogs strut their stuff!
Cleverly dressed up K9s and their owners enjoyed the 1st Annual K9 Costume Party on the patio of the DeSoto Club on Halloween. A special thank you to Bryan Garrett, Food and Beverage Manager, for orchestrating the fun filled event. Guests enjoyed a lunch of hot dogs, brats, hamburgers and beverages, as well as a variety of salads. Anita Cox and her daughter Toni from Sweet Treats Bakery provided baked treats, with all proceeds from the lunch sales supporting the Animal Welfare League.
Thanks to everyone's generosity, more than $500 was raised for AWL programs!
The highlight of the afternoon was the "Pooch Parade" and gift cards to POA restaurants were awarded for the best dressed K9s.
Thanks also to Bryan's staff at the DeSoto Club, and to Kim Massey, Human Resources Manager, for their valuable assistance.
We also want to thank Ben E. Keith Company and Miller Lite for sponsoring the event.

The “No-Fleas” Flea Market & Bake Sale on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the Coronado Center was the biggest and most profitable one to date!
Despite all the COVID protocols in place, the enormous amount of donations
dropped off on Friday evening was unprecedented.
According to Chair Beverly Fitzpatrick, “I could not have predicted in my wildest dreams the amount of donations that started pouring in Friday night.”
The momentum continued throughout the sale on Saturday, when shoppers searched for bargains that filled not only the auditorium of the Coronado Center, but also two adjacent rooms. From small furniture to big bicycles, home goods to sporting goods, power tools to jewelry and collectibles, and merchandise for our four legged friends, buyers had many choices, including tempting baked treats.
Through their generous purchases and donations, more than $5,300 – record earnings for the “No Fleas” Flea Market - was raised to benefit the Animal Welfare League. All proceeds will go directly to care for the AWL’s homeless pets, and is especially appreciated in a year when COVID prevented the Girls Gotta Howl fundraiser.
Special thanks to KVRE radio for promoting the event, the hard working staff at the Coronado Center, the fabulous bakers, and the tireless volunteers who helped make the event so successful.
This raucous girl’s night out happens every other year, and has gathered loyal followers because of the night’s entertainment and dinner. Catered food, wine fountain, a bit of shopping, style show, and the highlight – a performance by our very own “Cheapendales” dancers.
AWL’s largest fundraiser is held every other year, and has been a repeat success through the years. Participants enjoy a gala evening with dinner and hundreds of auction items to review. A raffle is one of the highlights of the evening with superb prizes available. It is basically a flashy evening for all.
Often AWL sponsors miscellaneous special events, such as dog walks/shows, charity days at local businesses, adoption events, or other fun events that are not recurring, and from which AWL receives support.
